about

E-Live 2009 is accompanied by a special limited edition cd with unique music from the musicians that gave concerts at the festival. Irishman Stephen Whitlan gained so much interest from his short concert at E-Day when he played in the band of John Dyson that he was asked for a whole concert at E-Live. His "Drive-FDM" is a wonderful sequencer tour-the-force with some great soloing on the MiniMoog.
Faralley (Dutchman Han Versteeg) played in the small hall at E-Live and raised a lot of attention. "P-W-M-C" is a driving rhythmic track with some fine "fat" solos.
Brendan Pollard & Hashtronaut (Michael Daniel) bring "Analogue Satourn". That is a well chosen title because their music is as close to classic "retro" as can be with big sequences, real Mellotronsounds, real Moogs and real stringsynthesizers. Just close your eyes and think back to the time when Tangerine Dream almost broke down the walls of cathedrals in the seventies. Pollard and Daniel bring it all back!
The main act on E-Live was the German Wolfram Spyra, sometimes named Wolfram "Der" Spyra. Wolfram is one of the most respected EM-musicians around. He played virtually every style: melodically, ambient, Berliner Schule, jazz, dance, you name it. "Sucrology" (from which an expert can be heard here) shows clearly why. Accompanied by some excellent drumtracks, Wolfram plays a piece that almost has traces of progressive rock. And just listen to these Mellotron-choirs!

E-Live 2009 was a superb festival again with sublime concerts by some of the best electronic musicians. This great cd celebrated this brilliant festival that -next to E-Day- hopefully will be held in lengths of time.
